Synthetic Quartz - Bell Telephone Labs
specimen number:

location:
Circa 1956
description:
An extremely rare and neat historical specimen consisting of one of the first ever grown synthetic quartz crystal specimens. Absolute water clear and transparent, this measures 17.0 x 6.5 x 4.0 cm in size. Several decades old. The thin line running down the center of the crystal is the original seed plate and the rest of the liquid quartz crystallized on this thin piece of quartz seed plate. The metallic bands on each and are contacts were the original seed plate was set into place. Very minimal chipping on some of the edges present, still I think in very good condition. Outstanding for anyone who collects quartz oddities or historical specimens. Shipping weight: 2.51 pounds.
Size: 17.0 x 6.0 x 4.5 cm (large-cabinet)
