Pyrite with Rhodochrosite
specimen number:
9080188
location:
Cananea, Sonora, Mexico
description:
An exceptional large bright lustrous striated pyrite crystal 9.0 cm across set on matrix with pink crystallized rhodochrosite and minor sphalerite. This measures 15.0 x 10.0 x 5.0 cm. Extremely fine old-time example for the species from this mining district. Previous old label from Ward's in Rochester New York. I think this in very good condition. There is an area sort of centerleft that at first appears to be damage but I believe to be naturally crystallized pyrite. I think a very good addition to any suite of Mexican minerals or pyrite. Shipping weight: 2.73 pounds. Ex Charles Noll collection.
Size: 15.0 x 10.0 x 5.0 cm (large-cabinet)
Collection: Charles Noll
