location:
Chanarcillo, Copiapo Province, Atacama Region, Chile
description:
A 3.1 x 2.5 x 2.0 cm matrix, the top covered with deep red lustrous translucent proustite crystals to 0.5 cm in size. Some damage, typical of these, as seen. Still, a very fine and rich old-time classic. Chanarcillo was a major silver mining district; proustite specimens from here are always in high demand amongst collectors and are quite rare on the market.
