Lustrous deep red slightly translucent crystals of almandine to 0.4 cm in size across this rhyolite matrix with micro crystalline quartz. The specimen is in very good condition and does show nice deep red translucency in the crystals. Previous label calls this spessartine, but these have since been determined to be almandine.
